SCORE - AN OVERVIEW
The Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy or simply known as SCORE, is one of the five development corridors being developed throughout the country. SCORE is a major iniative undertaken to develop the Central Region and transform Sarawak into a developed State by the year 2020. It aims to achieve the goals of accelerating the State's economic growth and development, as well as improving the quality of life for the people of Sarawak.
The core of the Corridor is its energy resources (28,000 MW), particularly hydropower (20,000 MW), coal (5,000 MW) and others (3,000 MW). This will allow Sarawak to price its energy competitively and encourage investments in power generation and energy-intensive industries that will act as triggers for the development of vibrant industrial development in the corridor.
SCORE PROJECTED TOTAL INVESTMENT
The distribution of investment is RM267 billion (80%) in industries and power while RM67 billion (20%) in physical infrastructure, human capital and institutional infrastructure.
